Taboga Island Green Dart Frogs – Dendrobates Auratus
Taboga Island is home to a particular species of tiny green tree frog – DENDROBATES-AURATUS-TABOGA ( green tree-dart frog) – which is only found on the island, it morphed from the mainland dendrobates auratus frog and has a coloration and pattern which is different. They are tiny, at about 1″ long and a popular attraction for visitors to Taboga.
B&B Cerrito Tropical Hotel is an excellent location to view these frogs since the hotel is backed by the lush tropical rain forest which is their home. They are spotted daily (especially in the early morning hours) hopping about in their search for water.
