Sustainable & Environmentally Friendly Tourism at Cerrito Tropical B&B Hotel on Taboga Island
While we don’t profess to be 100% sustainable; we have initiated the following policies which are underway and are always interested to adopt more measures:
-Hire local Tabogan employees.
-Set up a training & basic English program for employees.
-Purchase local fish and produce whenever possible.
-Contract local Tabogan construction and maintenance people, as well as seamstresses etc…
-Purchase local materials whenever possible.
-Grow some of our own fruit and herbs.
-Use local transport, pick–up taxis and boats for shipping.
-Introduce guests to local guides for fishing/ snorkeling tours.
-Support community events, cultural, religious, junior firefighters, and soccer teams.
-Members of the Taboga Association which pays privately for regular beach cleanup and improvements in the community.
-Our property has 3 generous balconies where guests can enjoy the outdoors, spending as little time as possible in their rooms.
-We promote water and energy conservation in Cerrito and with our guests, and reuse whatever we can including water bottles, bags etc.
-We plant new trees whenever possible on our property.
-We are located next to a Dry Tropical Rainforest, we protect the area nearby and offer information on the birds, the trees and amphibians etc. which live there to our guests.
